English: HELMAND PROVINCE, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan—Company D, 2nd Amphibious Assault Battalion, Marine Expeditionary Brigade-Afghanistan prepares themselves and their Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles for the long and dangerous convoy that lay ahead of them. Totaling approximately 70 vehicles, including a Route Clearing Platoon, the convoy traveled through the dangerous cities of Kandahar and Geresh to transport their vehicles to Camp Leatherneck. Once the Marines and sailors trucked the MRAPs to Leatherneck they will make up roughly 25 percent of MEB-Afghanistan’s MRAP capabilities. (Official Marine Corps Photo by Cpl. Thomas J. Hermesman) |
