English: Cpl. Kula K. Mando, 22, Nashville, Tenn., warehouse chief, Headquarters and Service Company, 1st Marine Logistics Group, fires a 40 mm M-203 training grenade round down-range during the Tactical Small Unit Leadersâ Course here Jan. 4. âWeâre here to train advanced rifleman skills to Marine noncommissioned officers whose military occupational specialty isnât infantry, so they can better lead their junior enlisted into a combat environment,â said Staff Sgt. Todd A. Rosalez, TSULC chief instructor, Advanced Infantry Training Center, Multi National Force-West. âWe donât sugarcoat the training because theyâre not in the (infantry) field.â Tactical Small Unit Leadersâ Course instructors teach the NCOs information straight from the Training and Readiness Manual, which is also taught to all Marines who go through the School of Infantry. âThe catchy saying âevery Marine is a riflemanâ is being lost due to many Marines only focusing on their specialty job because they never leave the Forward Operating Base,â said Cpl. John A. Rivera, 22, Margate, Fla., refrigeration mechanic, Maintenance Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 2, 1st Marine Logistics Group. âThe TSULC course helps us improve our ability to lead junior Marines into the fight.â By the NCOs going through the TSULC, theyâll take back the knowledge theyâve learned and pass on the information to the junior enlisted Marines whoâll eventually become leaders. |
