Description
English: Marines with I Marine Expeditionary Force and sailors from the USS Tarawa stand aboard the ship during its decommissioning ceremony Dec. 4. Marines and sailors who last served aboard the 32-year old ship, fellowshipped with those who had worked many years ago. The ship will be towed to Hawaii in March, where it will undergo the decommissioning process of removing of the ship's systems and fluids. The ship will then be put on ready reserve status as a mobility asset. Should a situation present itself, the ship can be restored for service in future conflicts.
