English: Utilizing a tractor, a Marine combat engineer with Charlie Company, Combat Service Support Battalion 7, transports a HESCO barrier to be used as a roadblock in an effort to bolster the perimeter defenses of the voting facility in Baghdadi, Iraq, Jan. 27, 2005. The Marines fortified the Baghdadi polling site with several thousand yards of concertina wire, several high-powered generators, vehicle roadblocks and sturdy barriers. The election will create a 275-member National Assembly and 18 provincial legislatures. The newly elected assembly will draw up the country's permanent constitution and select a president and two deputy presidents, who will name a new prime minister and Cabinet to serve for 11 months until new elections are held. |
