English: Sgt. Horace D. Buice, food distribution supervisor, Supply, Combat Logistics Battalion 5, Combat Logistics Regiment 15, 1st Marine Logistics Group (Forward), operates a forklift to unload a pallet of soft drinks. The prior method of food distribution left Marines only capable of shipping certain types of rations, said Buice, 31 from Brooklyn, N.Y. This new method significantly decreased the workload said 1st Lt. Amy M. Akstin, 31-year-old native of Alexandria, Va. and a supply officer for CLB 5. Because of the decreased workload, Buice and Amsterdam had more time, and more room for improved food quality. Now the Marines out there get to eat the same food we get at the chow hall, said Buice. They even get ice cream, he said, laughing. Who ever heard of that; grunts getting ice cream in the desert? |
