USCGC Lilac in New York Harbor with sunken sailing ship in foreground

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Coast Guard Historian identifies the ship in this photo as USLHT Lilac in New York Harbor with sunken sailing ship in foreground. However, the shape of the forecastle doesn't seem to match Lilac. The ship might be her near sister-ship USLHT Arbutus. Whichever ship she is, it was routine for tenders to place special buoys at wreck sites to warn other ships away from the danger. U.S. Coast Guard Historian's Office photo 220211-G-G0000-010-2.
