Summary

[edit]
Description

“These campaigns are an excellent opportunity for educating young women about to enter the workforce, about employment possibilities, while also educating them about their rights in the workplace, notably through the Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act of 2010.” School Principal Rohila Akbar

Four energy conservation campaigns were held at four women’s colleges of the LESCO region, where 1,200 students and 50 teachers were informed about Pakistan’s power sector. These activities aim to develop consumer awareness by involving female employees of DISCOs to inform and educate Pakistan’s female population about how to adopt energy saving habits at both homes and workplaces. The campaigns are targeted at women because as they take the message to “go green” to their homes, a ripple effect will be created that may help decrease the burden of the power shortfall at the grass-roots level.
