English: USAF Memorial, Grafton Underwood This memorial stands in a lonely spot next to the Grafton Underwood - Geddington road, commemorating the fact that RAF Grafton Underwood was the first station to receive an 8th US Army Air Force Flying Unit and the first to launch a USAAF heavy bomber operation in August 1942. The airfield has reverted to agricultural use, but the memorial is immaculately maintained. |
