Description
Deutsch: Lockheed T-33A-5 (TR-605, s/n 56-1605). Das Schulflugzeug enstammt dem Lockheed-Fertingungsblock 56-1573 bis 56-1792 mit 220 T-33A-5-LO, lt. Listung in Famous Airplanes of the World: Lockheed F-80/T-33 Schootingstar, No.63, 7/1975, Seite 18. In Joe Baugher's USAF Serial Number Search Results steht jedoch dieser Baureihennummernblock mit der T-33A-1-LO in Verbindung.
Die Notlandung der T-33A (TR-605) erfolgte aufgrund eines Triebwerksschadens am 21. März 1958 bei Giebelstadt-Herchsheim, wobei die an den Flächspitzen eingehängten Fletcher-Centerline-Tanks zur Vermeidung einer Kerosinexplosion rechtzeitig abgeworfen wurden. Die T-33A-5 trägt auf dem Seitenleitwerk die auffällige rot-weisse Staffelmarkierung und das Emblem der 7101st Air Base Wing, stationiert in Wiesbaden (Erbenheim) AB, ca. 1958-1961. [1]. Hinweis: Nur knapp 3 Monate später, am 13. Juni 1958, kollidierte die Schwestermaschine T-33A-1-LO (TR-604, s/n 56-1604) des 20th Fighter Bomber Wing nachts mit einer RAF Canberra PR.7 WJ 823 (Photo-Aufklärer der Royal Air Force) über Spaldwick (UK) am . Die Besatzungsmitglieder beider Flugzeuge kamen ums Leben, die Flugzeuge zerschellten, über zivile Opfer am Boden liegen keine Informationen vor. Tail number "61605" = s/n 56-1605 => T-33A-1-LO or A-5-LO (?). With squadron markings of the 7101st Air Base Wing, based at Wiesbaden AB ca 1958-1961. [2] . Informations: The sister aircaft T-33A-1-LO (TR-604, s/n 56-1604) of 20th Fighter Bomber Wing collided at night with RAF Canberra PR.7 WJ 823 (Photo-reconnaissance version based on Canberra B.6) over Spaldwick (UK) June 13, 1958, all crew on both planes killed.
