Part of "Treasure of Ur" (that according to text on an UNESCO site was found in Mari). Azure-blue winged eagle made of gold (head and tail), lapis lazuli and copper. 2500 BC. The eagle has a lion's head and as such represented the land of Sumer under the name Anzu, a symbol of the goddess Ningersu.
