Description an ovigerous shrimp, 28mm. Lower Chesapeake Bay, Wolf Trap, Mathews County, VA - 12/03/13. Caught by Blue Crab Winter Dredge Survey. Photo by Robert Aguilar, Smithsonian Environmental Research Center. This superficially resembles what has generally been called a peppermint shrimp, Lysmata wurdemanni, which was recently broken into several separate species. This individual does not appear to be one of those species and could possibly be a previously described African or South American migrant or an unsubscribed species. Further investigation is required.
