GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba (Jan. 2, 2018) The to to be commissioned San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Portland (LPD 27) transits Guantanamo Bay during a brief fuel stop. The ship is currently on its way to home port in San Diego, and is scheduled to be commissioned in its namesake city of Portland, Oregon in April. Naval Station Guantanamo Bay is the Navy’s strategic logistics installation for routine, contingency, humanitarian, counternarcotic and migrant operations in the Caribbean; providing high quality of life while preserving environmental, historic and cultural resources.
