English: U.S. Navy Ensign Rachel Herrera uses a sextant aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52) to determine the distance to the dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Mathew Perry (T-AKE 9) before a replenishment at sea Aug. 8, 2013, in the Pacific Ocean. The Pearl Harbor had just finished participating in Pacific Partnership 2013 in the Solomon Islands. Pacific Partnership is an annual deployment of forces designed to strengthen maritime and humanitarian partnerships during disaster relief operations, while providing humanitarian, medical, dental and engineering assistance to nations of the Pacific. |
