Medzis, second from right, a counter improvised explosive device (IED) instructor with Combat Assault Battalion, conducts a class on spotting IEDs and using metal detecting equipment Feb. 10, 2012, in Ban Cham Krem, Thailand. Medzis, a veteran of deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, conducted the class for Royal Thai Marines as part of Cobra Gold 2012. Cobra Gold is a regularly scheduled joint/combined exercise designed to ensure regional peace and strengthen the ability of the Royal Thai Armed Forces to defend Thailand or respond to regional contingencies. |
