USAID/OFDA Senior Regional Advisor Harlan Hale discusses U.S. disaster response and lessons learned. On February 15 2013, more than 110 college students, Indonesian disaster management personnel, humanitarian NGOs, and U.N. agencies attended an event at @america on how the U.S government, organizations, and citizens respond to disasters. While the main focus of the event was the disaster response to Super Storm Sandy in the United States, speakers also discussed lessons learned from Super Storm Sandy that can benefit Indonesia, and how the U.S. government responds to disasters overseas, including the January 2013 Jakarta floods.
