Description

PART OF THE ADVANCED LIGHT SOURCE BOOSTER SYNCHROTRON AT LAWRENCE BERKELEY NATIONAL LABORATORY.

THE CIRCULAR BOOSTER SYNCHROTRON GIVES A BOOST FROM AN ACCELERATING CHAMBER TO THE ELECTRONS EACH TIME THEY GO AROUND. IN LESS THAN ONE SECOND, THE ELECTRONS MAKE 1,300,000 REVOLUTIONS, TRAVELING AT 99.999994% OF THE SPEED OF LIGHT WITH AN ENERGY OF 1.5 BILLION ELECTRON VOLTS AND ARE READY TO BE TRANSPORTED TO THE STORAGE RING.
