NREL customized pulsed laser deposition chamber. Because of their great potential as a means of storing, transmitting and distributing electricity, high-temperature superconducting materials, systems, and components are an important area of R&D in NREL's Center for Basic Sciences. Extremely high quality films of high temperature superconductivity are grown in NREL's customized chamber. Superconducting wires of the future will be capable of carrying a large amount of electricity in a very efficient manner. For more information or additional images, please contact 202-586-5251. |
