OMEGA TARGET CHAMBER. THE CHAMBER, WHICH IS A 6-FOOT DIAMETER STAINLESS STEEL SPHERE, HAS 134 PORTS. TWENTY-FOUR PORTS CONTAIN FOCUSING LENSES FOR THE LASER BEAMS, THE OTHERS ARE FOR MOUNTING VARIOUS DIAGNOSTIC INSTRUMENTS. THE "OMEGA" IS USED NOT ONLY TO STUDY LASER FUSION BUT ALSO TO STUDY X-RAY APPLICATIONS IN BIOLOGY AND CHEMISTRY AND THE CHRONOSCOPY OF PICO- SECOND PHENOMENA. THE "OMEGA" IS PART OF THE NATIONAL LASERUSER FACILITY WHICH IS OPEN TO THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY.
