Description

BOOSTER II, A 500 MEV RAPID CYCLING HIGH INTENSITY SYNCHROTRON.

DESIGNED FOR USE AS AN INJECTOR FOR THE ZERO GRADIENT SYNCHROTRON (ZGS). BY 1981, BOOSTER II WILL BOMBARD HEAVY METALS WITH PROTONS TO PRODUCE NEUTRONS FOR THE FIRST PHASE OF THE INTENSE PULSED NEUTRON SOURCE. BOOSTER SHOWN WILL SERVE ZGS THRU FY 1979, THEN WILL BE USED TO FEED THE IPNS-I. STRAIGHT PORTION IN RF ACCELERATING CAVITY.
