UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN'S SOLAR POWERED CAR CROSSING THE AMERICAN SOLAR CHALLENGE 2001 FINISH LINE.

M-PULSE, THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN'S ENTRY IN THE 2001 SUNRAYCE, CROSSED THE FINISH LINE FIRST ON JULY 25, 2001. THIS IS THE LONGEST SOLAR CAR RACE IN THE WORLD, A BIENNIAL EDUCATIONAL SPORTING EVENT IN WHICH UNIVERSITY TEAMS, COMPANIES, AND CLUBS FROM AROUND THE WORLD COMPETE TO BUILD AND RACE SOLAR POWERED CARS ACROSS THE U.S. THIS YEAR THE RACE BEGAN IN CHICAGO, ILLINOIS ON JULY 15, 2001 AND WAS COMPLETED ON JULY 25, 2001 IN CLAREMONT, CALIFORNIA, TRAVELING ALL ALONG OLD ROUTE 66.
