Summary
[edit]DescriptionTwyford Waterworks - softening tank and filter house. (geograph 4158675).jpg |
English: Twyford Waterworks - softening tank and filter house. The nearest building is a big covered settling tank where the limed water is settled before being drawn off through the Haines's patent filters in the building at right angles in the distance. The filters caught both the precipitated calcium salts and the activated carbon that adsorbed any oil in the water due to the diesel pumping plant. When volunteer staffing permits the green door at this end is opened and the public can stand on a platform above the tank. |
