Notes |
English: Full-length portrait of two saluting Indian soldiers, seated in grounds of one of the military hospitals. The caption note continues: 'The Gurkha on the left is known as 'smiler' among all the hospital staff, as he is always smiling, in spite of his wounds. The sepoy on the right was wounded by an explosive bullet from a German rifle. The bullet entered his forearm, and instead of causing an ordinary wound, it smashed up his whole elbow, and as the officer-in-charge stated, this fact should be made known'.
