Two Makalolo Men, [s.d.]
"Livingston's Makalolo, Laws of Livingstonia" Half length portrait of two Makalolo men. The homeland of the Makalolo people is in Zimbabwe. The Scottish missionary David Livingstone had connections with the Makalolo people.; This belongs to a series of Church of Scotland Foreign Missions Committee lantern slides relating to Dr Robert Laws (1851-1934) the Scottish Missionary. In 1875, inspired by David Livingstone (1813-1873), Laws travelled to Malawi and was involved in the foundation of the mission station of Livingstonia on the shores of Lake Nyasa. During the succeeding 50 years he also established a network of hundreds of schools. In 1908 Laws was elected moderator of the General Assembly of the United Free Church of Scotland.
