English: On January 14, 2021, Major General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat, Commander of the Armed Forces of Brunei (ABDB) opened the Command and Staff Course (CSC) 11/2021 at the ABDB Defense Academy Auditorium. This year's program was attended by two Indonesian TNI officers, namely Marine Major (P) Bella Nusa Bahari from the Indonesian Navy and Major Kav Muhammad Fuad from the Indonesian Army.
Also present at the ceremony were Pengiran Dr Mohd Iskandar bin Pengiran Haji Petra, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), RBAF Service Commanders, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Director of Internal Security Department, senior officers as well as the Defence Advisers/Attachés to Brunei Darussalam. The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Surah Ali Imran (Verse 7-13) led by the representative of the course participants, Major (U) Wan Muhd Azem bin Haji Muhd Aminuddin, followed by the opening remarks of the guest of honour and continued with flag unfurling ceremony. The flag unfurling ceremony symbolises excellent cooperation between countries taking part in the course and emphasised the importance for Staff College students to forge strong friendships throughout their learning journey. A total of 33 officers are attending the course. From 33 students, there are 18 officers from the RBAF, one officer from the Royal Brunei Police Force, one officer from the Internal Security Department and other 13 international military officers. The Command and Staff Course 11/2021, aiming to expand professional and academic knowledge towards a contemporary strategic environment and its implications on their works being the defence and security specialists, is a 40-week course delivered in partnership with UBD for the third year as its primary academic provider. By the end of the course, successful course participants will be awarded the UBD Graduate Diploma in Defence and Security Studies with an opportunity to pursue their Master's degree in Defence and Security Studies. |
