| Description | My brother Loyd took this photo of the Burlington Zephyr in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, in 1956. This view shows the observation car. The Twin Cities Zephyr ran from Chicago to Minneapolis-St. Paul. This is the train set introduced in 1947, with several Vista-Dome cars and a separate diesel locomotive. The Twin Cities Zephyr was taken out of service when Amtrak took over most railroad passenger operations in 1971. |
