| Description |
English: Turnpike Lane Underground Station, 6 April 2023. The station was opened in September 1932, on the 1932-33 extension of the Piccadilly Line from Finsbury Park to Cockfosters.
The station was designed by Charles Holden, consultant architect to the Underground Electric Railways of London and in European Streamline Moderne style, this particular station being his ‘cube’ style with two towers which serve as ventilation shafts (only one is visible in this photo). It is Grade II listed. Pictured is the station block. |
