Summary
[edit]DescriptionTurning hole and weir, Merrymead Farm - geograph.org.uk - 243201.jpg |
English: Turning hole & weir, Merrymead Farm. At Merrymead Farm on the Aylesbury Arm of the Grand Union Canal is this turning hole which allows narrow boats to perform a "three-point-turn". Beyond this is a weir taking excess water from the canal into a network of streams and drainage ditches.
Note: Photo taken diagonally across a gridsquare intersection, the canal itself forms the gridline boundary. The subject is in the square claimed, though I needed to look at a 1:2500 map to check this ! |
