English: Turf Hotel. Overlooking the end of the canal basin above 957984 (right) and also shown in https://www.geograph.org.uk/gridref/SX9686?class=Public+house . "A handsome example of a slate-hung building on an impressive site". The building dates from about 1825, the same era as the canal extension, and was built by "James Green, the engineer, ... surveyor of Bridges and Buildings for Devon from 1818-1841.
