English: Tunnel under disused rail track. This disused rail track (The Thurgoland Coal Branch) linked the Stanhope Silkstone Main Colliery to the Sheffield/Manchester (Woodhead) line. Shown in use on the 1855 OS map, the rail track and colliery were no longer in use by the time of the 1908 map. See also 888931 |
