Summary
[edit]DescriptionTunnel mouth, Kirkby Slate Quarries - geograph.org.uk - 411273.jpg |
English: Tunnel mouth, Kirkby Slate Quarries There are a number of tunnels marked at the 1:5000 scale, but I have been unable to locate this picture precisely. Whether this was anything other than a drainage tunnel is also not clear. The tunnel entrance is approximately 5 feet high. Also noteworthy are the drystone retaining walls which are so typical of slate quarrying. |
