Title |
Tuning Key from Winteringham |
||
Description |
English: Copper alloy
Possible Instrument Key. Cast anchor shaped plate with a drilled hole of diameter 7mm, the edge of the hole is unevenly worn on one side of the object; the perforated plate is at the end of a rectangular section shank which is broken. A speculative identification as a tuning key or peg from a musical instrument is offered; this reporter would welcome better informed opinion. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1650-1800. Length: 22.8mm, Width: 16.2mm, Thickness: 3.6mm, Weight: 4.24gms. |
