| Description |
Tullow, County Carlow, Ireland English: Memorial garden of the convent of the Brigidine Sisters in Tullow. A nearby plaque reads: This memorial garden commemorates the site where Doctor Daniel Delany, Bishop of Kildare & Leighlin, chose six women to be pioneer sisters of the Brigidine Congregation which he established on February 1st 1807. These women were: Eleanor Tallon, Eleanor Dawson, Judith Whelan, Brigid Brien, Margaret Kinsella and Catherine Doyle. Bishop Delany spent the last days of his life in the care of the Brigidine Sisters and died here on July 9th 1814. |
