English: Tsuba and bag steel eight lobed disc boat on on both sides partly obscured by corrosion and remnants of floral design on one side with silver inlay, partly obscured by corrosion handsewn rectangular bag with brown, cream, and orange chequered silk; lined with blue, purple, and cream pattern silk Tsuba (sword guards) were used to protect the sword wielder's hands from sliding onto the blade. They are usually finely decorated, incorporating traditional motifs and designs and made from a variety of metals, such as iron, steel, brass or shakudo - an alloy of copper and gold.
