Bnough has already been revealed to indicate that thevery worst anticipations as to the result of the eruption of MontPelee are realized. Those who have come back here from St.Pierre report that the streets, and all the neighborhood around,what a few days ago was the largest and most prosperous city inMartinique, are now covered with heaps upon heaps of deadbodies in all directions. All the dead thus far seen were stark naked, their clothingapparently having burned from their bodies like so much tinder,while they themselves were burned to death.
