Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Trowse Railway Station, Norwich (derelict)
Trowse Station was the forerunner of Norwich Thorpe Station- it was the terminus of the Ipswich to Norwich line whilst the swing bridge over the River Yare was constructed. For many years it was the station where livestock was unloaded, to be herded up Bracondale to the Cattle Market next to Norwich Castle. The station had another lease of life in the 1980s, when the railway line was electrified. Again, the upgrading of the swing bridge proved an obstacle, so Trowse station was refurbished and used as a temporary terminus until the power lines into Norwich Thorpe station were completed.
