Nederlands: Gevlochten mat in de vorm van een dier gebruikt bij de wespen- of mierenproef. De contouren van zulke matten stellen altijd een dier voor, hier wellicht een reuzenmiereneter? De mat wordt gebruikt bij wespen- of mierenproeven (malaké) bij de Wajana-Indianen van Suriname.
Dit ritueel betekent voor de betrokkenen de afsluiting van een bepaalde levensperiode en het begin van een nieuwe fase waarin hardheid vereist wordt (rite de passage). Voor volwassenen is het vaak een herhalingsproef om kwaliteiten te verkrijgen die ze niet bezitten (bijvoorbeeld bij onvruchtbaarheid). Na een dansritueel vindt de wespen- of mierenproef plaats, terwijl de deelnemers ceremonieel gekleed zijn (o.a. de olok, zie nrs. 3945-a/c). Na deze dans wordt eenieder aan de proef onderworpen, waarbij een vrouw de mat van boven tot beneden tegen het hele lichaam aan houdt. Tot zeven dagen na de proef leeft de geïnitieerde in het malaké-gebouw op cassavebrood en verwarmd water. Dorpelingen beproeven hem of haar door het tonen van lekkernijen. De 3de dag worden de hoofdharen geknipt, terwijl de 7de dag jachtoefeningen op een namaak kwatta-aap gehouden worden, om te zien of de persoon over uithoudingsvermogen beschikt.
