Source Published NYT 1915. Also published in The Pitiful Plight of the Assyrian Christians in Persia and Kurdistan: Described From the Reports of Eye-Witnesses, 1916 where it's captioned, "Kurdish and Christian frontiersmen from Tergawar and Dasht". Original uploader said that the pic was taken mid-1890s and shows: "Assyrians of Mawana. Notable Assyrian clan elders in photo include: 'Sarhang' Eshai Baijan (Chieftain), Shmoel Khan (chieftain's successor-designate), Ablahad Ballo (church Deacon)."
