Summary

[edit]
Description

Tromsø Cathedral was built in 1861 and lies in the heart of modern Tromsø, surrounded by the Kirkeparken park which was used for burials from medieval times until early 19th century.

Unlike the more famous Arctic Cathedral, which is really just a parish church, Tromsø Cathedral is a fully fledged cathedral with the tower and main entrance facing west. Originally, the cathedral had seating space for 984, but they've since thrown out a few benches to make more leg space and the current capacity is just 618.
