IN PLEASANT ENFIELD STREET As we get into South Windsor and East Windsor Hill, wefind a continuation of the thrifty farms. One of the earlysettlers of this locality was Samuel Grant, ancestor of GeneralU. S. Grant. Fine examples of colonial architecture will beseen on both sides of the long street—the best being the Granthomestead, on the west side. The tooth of time deals lightlywith these venerable structures. Indeed, this whole stretch ofcountryside is remarkable for its well-preserved old houses, andwith the quiet tree-shaded streets, the fine views of river orcountry scenery, it is at once refreshing and interesting. Warehouse Point is connected with Windsor Locks, on thewest side of the Connecticut, by a suspension bridge. At Warehouse Point connection may be made for BroadBrook, Melrose and Rockville. (See Table 24 for details.) As-cending the ridge, which runs parallel with the river and aboutone-half mile from it, we view to the left the river and tothe right a fertile coun
