thing, and the fine shore dinners served anytime after noon. The car continues on thro Gardiner, which grinds pulp for paper, and Hallowell, which quarries granite. From Augusta the pleasure seeker may reach Winthrop on Lake Maranacook, a noted fishing-place, where all the bass are big fellows; Waterville, pretty college town; Togus, where is the National Soldiers Home. (Those who wish to vary their style of return might well take the 3.45 p. m. steamer at Gardiner and enjoy the cool two-hours sail down the Kennebec to Bath, arriving at 6 p. m. Lunch here, then take the 6:30 trolley for a pleasant ride in the cool of the evening, arriving at Portland at 9.15 p. m.) Here we are at last in the very Heart of Maine, its woods, lakes and streams spread around you. Of America New England is the playground; Maine is the playground of New England. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Maine will fur-nish the play; let each of the other 47 States furnish the boy! 50 Trolley Trips through New England

ALONG THE SOUND SHORE EASTERN CONNECTICUT Newhaven to New London via Saybrook — the shore way. Let us now introduce you to the NEW ROUTE, by which a through trolley traveler from Manhattan to the Hub may continue all the way along shore from New York and Newhaven to New London or Watch Hill, over a line opened thro only very recently, and then take his way from there to Boston, via Providence, the heart of Little Rhody. For the convenience of the through traveler, local tickets covering the entire journey have been assembled and bound in book form ($3.75). You buy all your tickets before you start. No more bother! Buy of Raymond & Whitcomb Co. at 225 Fifth Avenue, or of the Union News Co., at Harlem River Station, where one takes the Westchester. Tickets for part way may also be bought at the offices of the trolley company in Newhaven, New London, Norwich, and Providence. (The route from New York as far as Newhaven is fully described: pages 9-15. Full itineraries are given on page 66.) J\
