Summary
English: The Entry of the Goddess of Peace, bas relief on the eastern side of the attica of the Brandenburg Gate. Design by Bernhard Rode. In the middle, the goddess of Peace, with an olive branch and laurel wreath in her hands, rides on a triumphal chariot drawn by four geniuses pulling on a garland of woven laurel. Before the chariot proceed Harmony, Friendship, Statesmanship, the goddess of Victory, and Valor, before whom Discord flees. The chariot is followed by Joy, dancing and with a rose belt in her hands, the goddess of Abundance, from whose cornucopia fruit falls and is gathered up, Architecture, Painting, Sculpture and the goddess of Higher Learning alongside Music and Poetry with the symbols of discernment in her hands. |
