DescriptionTrimble's wharf on the Seattle tideflats, 1917.jpg |
English: Trimble's wharf on tideflats, 1917. "Seattle Tide Lands. Block 367. Camera at a point 24' W of the W margin of Railroad Ave. and 25' S of the S line of W.P. Trimble's property. Looking W shows piling sout (sic) side of W P Trimble's wharf. No dreding (sic) of slip."
The 1901 Seattle Polk's Directory describes Trimble's Wharf as being "ft King", that is, at the foot of south King Street. Trimble also owned a pier about a mile north, in the Union Street / Pike Street area, but this does not look like anything in that well-documented area in this era. Item 52012, Engineering Department Photographic Negatives (Record Series 2613-07), Seattle Municipal Archives. Seattle Municipal Archives changed its URL scheme circa 2022; the older URLs beginning with "clerk" are deprecated, and will eventually fail. The following search should find item number 52012 in their new database: http://archives.seattle.gov/digital-collections/index.php/Search/objects/search/num%253A52012+AND+ca_objects.type_id%253A23 . |
