Deutsch: Wappen (1765) am ehemaligen Landhaus der Abtei St. Maria ad martyres in Trier, Am Stadion 1.
English: Relief of coat of arms (1765) at former economic building of Abbey St. Maria ad martyres in Trier.
Beschreibung: „An der Südwestecke eingemauert befindet sich ein großer, barocker Wappenstein. Wie die seitliche und niedrige Position schon nahelegt, befindet er sich nicht am ursprünglichen Ort, sondern wurde 1930 von der gegenüberliegenden Hausseite hierher versetzt.
Die Inschrift unter dem Wappen lautet: HIC BENE IVCVNDIS SOCIATVR ET VTILE FVNDI VT LOCVS EST SVAVIS SIC AQVA PISCE GRAVIS. "Hic bene iucundis sociatur et utile fundi ut locus est suavis sic aqua pisce gravis" bedeutet frei übersetzt: Das Fröhliche möge sich hier mit dem Nützlichen verbinden. So wie der Ort voller Liebreiz ist, so ist das Wasser voller Fische. Gleichzeitig birgt die Inschrift ein Chronogramm: I + C + I + V + C + V + D + I + C + I + V + V + I + L + V + D + I + V + L + C + V + V + V + I + I + C + V + I + C + V + I = 1 + 100 + 1 + 5 + 100 + 5 + 500 + 1 + 100 + 1 + 5 + 5 + 1 + 50 + 5 + 500 + 1 + 5 + 50 + 100 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 1 + 1 + 100 + 5 + 1 + 100 + 5 + 1 = 1765 = Baujahr.
Zu beiden Seiten der Wappenkartusche sind dem Zweck des Gebäudes entsprechend Karpfen und Rohrkolben zu sehen, eine äußerst ungewöhnliche Dekoration für ein Abtswappen, das ansonsten in klassischer Weise auf dem oberen Rand den oberen Teil eines Vortragekreuzes und eines Krummstabes sowie eine Inful als Kennzeichen eines infulierten Abtes aufweist. Zu dieser Jahreszahl paßt der 1761-1786 amtierende Abt Thomas Valentini vom Kloster St. Marien.
Die barocke Kartusche zeigt als Wappeninhalt auf blauem Grund ein schwebendes silbernes Kreuz, hier ähnlich einem Dreilappenkreuz geformt und mit hervorgehobenen Konturen, gleichermaßen wie das Kreuz über dem Schild gestaltet.“ Welt der Wappen - Galerie Nr. 1943
