Description

Trichosanthes tricuspidata (syn. Trichosanthes bracteata) Distribution: Common on trees and hedges. An Indo malayan plant. Through out India, Photographed at a village near Eastren ghats. Local name: (Telugu)Paapara, Avaguda. Extensively branched climbers, tendrils branched. Leaves 8-12x 6-10cm, sub orbicular, deeply 5 lobed, lobes oblong, pellucid-punctate. Flowers 3-3.5cm across, white, Berries 5-6cm across globose, red, Leaf juice is applied to relieve joit pains, fruits are poisonous, root juice is used to relieve ear ache.
