Summary
[edit]DescriptionTriassic landscape.jpg |
English: Reconstructed Triassic landscape at the Museum am Löwentor, Stuttgart (Germany), with Chiniquodon theotonicus (formerly also known as Belesodon magnificus; left), Batrachotomus kupferzellensis (right), and, poorly visible in the foreground below the water table, a large temnospondyl (probably Mastodonsaurus giganteus). Chinquodon theotonicus and Batrachotomus kupferzellensis, however, may never have met in life because the former is a Gondwanan species (known from fossil sites in Brazil) whereas the latter lived in northern Pangaea in what today is Germany. Chinquodon theotonicus here probably is a „substitute“ for closely related Central European forms which are known only from very incomplete material.
