That Dr. Morton didl however, take Dr. Jacksons advice is shown bythe following account given by Professor Warren, who performed the firstoperation on October 16, 1846: The first proposal for the employment ofether by inhalation, for the prevention of pain in surgical operations, wasmade by Dr. W. G. T. Morton, about the middle of October, 1846.
