| Description |
English: Trento (Italy): latin inscription cum aquarum perpetuo cursu on the Fountain of Neptune in Piazza del Duomo. The inscription is probably related to the requirements that Francesco Antonio Giongo (architect of the fountain) had to satisfy for an extra reward: after building the fountain in 1768, he was asked also to build an aqueduct to bring water to it (a "continuous flow of water"), after earlier attempts miserabily failed (see also File:Trento-Fountain of Neptune-desperantibus omnibus.jpg).
Italiano: Trento (Italia): iscrizione latina cum aquarum perpetuo cursu sulla Fontana del Nettuno in Piazza del Duomo. L'iscrizione è probabilmente legata alle richieste che l'architetto della fontana Francesco Antonio Giongo dovette soddisfare per ricevere un compenso extra: dopo aver costruito la fontana nel 1768, gli fu chiesto di costruire anche l'aquedotto per portarvi l'acqua (un "flusso d'acqua continuo"), dopo che tentativi precedenti fallirono miseramente (vedi anche File:Trento-Fountain of Neptune-desperantibus omnibus.jpg). |
