| Description |
English: Trent and Mersey Canal near Aston-on-Trent, Derbyshire. The canal was operating here by 1770, though the full 93.5 mile length took until 1777 to complete. The flat bottom of the Trent Valley here has been extensively dug for sand and gravel, and there are many flooded pits ahead and to the right of the canal. |
