Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Trent and Mersey Canal near Aston-on-Trent, Derbyshire. The canal was built between 1766 and 1777, initially engineered by James Brindley, but fully opened five years after his death. Here it passes through the flat farm land of the Trent Valley. Boats up to ten feet in width can use the canal between Stenson and the River Trent at Derwent Mouth, though whether two of these actually manage to pass each other without someone scraping the bottom or becoming grounded, I wonder.
