Going still westward on the Drive, justback to the south-west of the last Nordmann, youcome to a red maple and further over to a noble ever-green, of light feathery aspect, and graceful fountain-spray form of branching. It was perfect before it lostits top branches, but it is beautiful still. It is theMount Atlas variety of the Cedar of Lebanon (CedriisAtlantic a). You probably have noticed this tree oftenin your rambles and perhaps have been told that it isCedar of Lebanon. It is in a way. Cedar of Lebanon.That Is it is a variety of it, known botanically as theMount Atlas Cedar (Cednis Atlantica). If you com-pare its leaves with those of the Cedrus Libani on thesouthern slope of Breeze Hill you will see that thesehave a glaucous tinge over them. In addition theyare mostly cylindric, stiff, mucronate or sharp pointedand closely clustered. Those of the Libani are longneedle form, taper pointed, few In fascicle and are of

Wewill not follow it now, but will keep on with the pathwhich runs under the Three-Arched-Bridge.
